Device profiles dictate the layout of the buttons on the phone. Most of the time, a device profile will be assigned to the whole company so everyone has the same layout. If you need a custom layout, follow these instructions.
- From the top toolbar, select Settings
- From the Voice category, select Device Profiles
There will be at least one device profile already created. You can choose to create your own or edit the one that is there. - Select the Device Profile to edit
- From the left pane, select Buttons. To add a button, press the blue + Add in the top right. Select a button action from the drop down menu to start adding. To delete a button, click the three vertical dots found to the right of every button field and press Delete.
- Phone Line
- Parking Lot
- Monitor User
- Speed Dial
- Toggle
There needs to be at least one phone line. Having multiple phone lines allows you to swap between calls. You can switch what line you are on, putting the first person on hold. This can be more convenient than parking lots, especially if people are used to old analog phones.
Label: [[user]].[[firstName]] – [[user]].[[voice.voIPNumber]]
Value: 1
These act as universal holds where you can keep people that can be picked up by others, or if you needed to be able to use your phone, or if you wanted to check if a user was available before transferring them over. These need to be created elsewhere before you can use them. Learn how to do that here.
Label: “Park 1” (Increment the number by 1 for each park you add)
Select the parking lot created previously
Select the appropriate stall. It should match up with the label you wrote. i.e. if you put a label as “Park 1”, you should select Stall 1.
Monitor User: This is referencing another user that you can press a button or touch the screen and it will initiate a transfer to that person.
Label: [[firstName]]
From the drop down menu, select the user you want to add
Speed dials have multiple possible functions. Besides just calling a specific number, they can be utilized alongside Internal Numbers, to call a specific callflow, or ring group.
Label: “Name of Person, ring group, callflow, or action”
Speed Dial Number: Add a ‘1’ before entering in their phone number.
Callflow/Ring Group: Reference the internal number you have previously created that links to the callflow or ring group. Go here for instructions to create internal numbers. Note that the callflow the internal number references must be created before hand. E.g. if you want a speed dial to call out to a specific ring group, you will create a callflow that has that ring group as the first entry, then select that callflow from the internal number you create. This number will be the value you will enter for the speed dial.
To enable quick enabling/disabling of a toggle, you can create a button that references your previously created toggle from the drop down menu. Toggles are most often utilized in a callflow to dictate the flow of the call.
- Move the buttons to your preference. These buttons will auto populate your phone layout with these buttons running up-and-down and left-to-right. To move, select Edit. Clicking on the buttons icon will insert a blue checkmark. Select as many icons as you would like, and click “Move Up” or “Move Down“.
- Press Save
- Set the device profile for the user by going to Settings -> Devices
- Select the desired device and select the pencil and paper edit button in the top right (This also can be set at the location level for a company wide profile.)
- From the “Device Profile Override” drop down menu, select the profile you created
- Repeat this process for every device you wish to apply the profile to
- Now that we have assigned it to the device, we need to update the phones
Go back to Settings -> Device Profiles and click the green Send to Devices in the upper right corner
